Well after a long absence, I am back to processing photos and blogging! We have been super busy trying to get a place to live before the 18th of March, and that has taken up a lot of our time. I’ve finally begun to start going through all my 5000+ photos from our trip to New Zealand in January though! We flew from Edmonton – Los Angeles and spent 4 days there before flying out to NZ. I was able to explore and photograph a few beaches during our time there. This was my first time ever shooting the coast and it was good\u00a0practice\u00a0for all the coastal scenes I was prepared to shoot in New Zealand. The first shots I’m showing are from Abalone Cove during sunrise on Dec. 27 2010.\u00a0 There wasn’t much going on in terms of clouds\/colors in the sky, so I decided to shoot some long exposures of the early morning sun hitting the rocks and the interplay of sunlight and waves.<\/p>\n

These first two photos are from the same image, just one is color and the other is black and white. I knew when I was shooting that these photos would look good in color and also without. If you look closely along the horizon you can vaguely make out Catalina Island, just off the coast of California. Be sure to click on each photo to view larger!<\/p>\n
